I received a request from my dad to manufacture a small aluminium blade adapter for a small wind turbine. He needed the adapter to fit a plastic fan blade to the turbine. I manufactured the following aluminium adapter and drilled and tapped a setscrew to hold the adapter on the motor shaft. I cut the other end to slot into the plastic fan blade. This end slots into the blade and is then screwed to the blade with a setscrew.
Do you need a aluminium blade adapter for your wind turbine?

Fabrication: Car Air Conditioner Compressor Disk Replacement
Image 1: Car Air Conditioner Compressor (Click on image for larger view.)
A car's air-conditioner compressor is under more stress than any other component in the automotive air conditioning system. (Image: 1)
It is for this reason that compressor problems are one of the most common and potentially expensive issues that you may experience with your vehicles air conditioner. The internal failure of an air conditioning compressor is the worst-case scenario. The different parts that make up an auto air conditioning system are all important for the system's function. In every system, however, there is always a single component that is considered the most important. This component is often termed as the heart of the system. In the auto air conditioning system, this component is the AC compressor.
The AC compressor is a mechanical pump that is driven by a belt attached to the vehicle's engine. Like the human heart, the AC compressor pumps fluid so that it would flow in a closed loop through the various parts of the system. Instead of blood, however, the AC compressor pumps refrigerant, which is the main element responsible for absorbing all the heat that accumulates inside the vehicle's cabin. A regular failure of the AC compressor disk/hub occur. There seem to be a flaw in the original design. (Image:2)
Image 2: Disk/Hub (Left - Original manufacturers disk/hub. Right - Original broken disk/hub. Broken piece lying in the foreground.)
I was approach to manufacture the disk/hub out of aluminium to make it stronger and to prevent it from breaking so easily. I used the metal lathe and milling machine and came up with a strong and durable disk that will not break so easily. (Image: 3)

Herewith a few images of the manufacturing stages:
Finally: This newly manufactured disk solves the problem of regular replacing of the poorly constructed original disk.
Do you have to buy a new disk for your car's air conditioner compressor every now and again. Well why not fit one of these newly manufactured disks that will solve your expensive disk replacements. Car air conditioning repair shops are most welcome to contact me and I will gladly supply them with more information and a quote on manufacturing of these disks.
